An Inclusive play care setting for all your childcare needs

“Krayola Kiddies aim to provide a safe warm and welcoming environment for our children to grow develop and become confident young people”
The Setting
Krayola Kiddies childcare setting has been designed with children in mind. Our rooms are bright, spacious, warm and welcoming where your child will find lots of stimulating and fun activities.
We are situated within Swinnow Primary School and have or own entrance. Although we do offer special services to the school pupils such as” wrap around care” and “out of school”, we are open to the rest of the community whether or not your child will attend the school in the future.

We take children aged from 3 months to 4 years in the early years setting and 4 to 16 years in the out of school and holiday playschemes

The setting has its own secure outdoor play area where children can explore the outside environment with lots of fun things to do.

Security of the children is one of our main concerns and only parents and permitted visitors will have access to the children’s areas. Under no circumstances will a child be allowed to leave the setting with anyone unknown to the staff unless previously arranged by the parent/guardian. We use a password system to ensure your child’s safety.

NEW FOR SEPTEMBER 2005

The site is currently installing an Internet Viewing system to allow parents to view images of their child, securely via the Internet. Security is the number one priority so every parent is issued with a password once registration takes place. Once securely logged on, working or travelling parents and grandparents can see live images of their children at all times.
Hosted at nurserycam.co.uk

Sensory Baby Unit

This room will be open from September 2005, newly decorated and fully equipped to take 12 babies 3 months to 2 years. The room has a sensory area, soft play area, eating and sleeping facilities with separate changing room, with various equipment offering stimulation covering every area of your child’s development. Milk and nappies to be supplied by the parent. Our Onsite Cook will prepare freshly cooked food and will work with you, the parent, to ensure your babies dietary needs are catered for.

Early year’s rooms

These rooms have an open plan aspect which is divided into different play areas where your child can explore and try out new skills. These rooms provide children with the ability to choose and take part in a range of stimulating activities, where the equipment is easily identifiable and at child level for easy access. The areas include dressing up and role play, reading and picture books, mark making, creative play, sand and water, the home corner, construction area, puzzles and jig saws. Through out the day there will be adult led focused activities.

All children will enjoy a member of staff‘s individual attention at certain times through out the day for reading, mark making, shape and colour work for their profiles.

All children learn and develop through play and as required by OFSTED we structure our activities around the six Early Learning Goals,

1. Personal, Social, Emotional Development
2. Communication Language and Literacy
3. Mathematical Development
4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
5. Physical Development
6. Creative Development

The children can learn the basics of IT including mouse control and the use of educational programmes in preparation for reception class.

Outdoor play is encouraged through out the day within our safe and secure outdoor play area.

Wrap Around Care

Most schools have a pre-school nursery offering free places for children aged three and four year old offering five two and a half hour sessions per week for three terms until your child is ready to join the school reception class.

Krayola Kiddies offers a childcare facility which “wraps around” these pre-school sessions enabling children who require full day care to attend the pre-school nursery if their parents wish.

Parents just need to leave their child at Krayola Kiddies at 7-30am and collect them again at 6pm. leave the rest to Krayola Kiddies and we will ensure that your child is taken to and collected from the school nursery.

Many children find it upsetting being left alone for the first time with people they have yet to get to know and trust. We suggest that before your child reaches the pre-school age you visit the setting with your child and plan to stay with them until he/she feels happy with the new environment.

Before and After School Club

This room is designed with the older child in mind. It provides a safe and stimulating environment where your child can unwind after a busy day at school. There are lots of fun activities to take part in such as Arts and Crafts, Playstation, Role play, Board games and lots of Outdoor play. The staff plan a full programme for the children to enjoy and are encouraged to be part of the planning process.

Holiday Playscheme

We run playscheme every school holiday and are open from 7-30am to 6-00pm everyday excluding bank holidays and the Christmas period. The days are full of exciting things to do including trips such as The Seaside, Eureka, Theme parks, Swimming and much more. So you can be assured that your children will be well cared for by qualified staff.

Krayola Kiddies Staff

At Krayola Kiddies we value the importance of highly trained and experienced staff and encourage all staff to take on extra training in order for them to better their positions. All staff has been CRB checked and references followed up. Krayola Kiddies staff aim to provide your child with a warm nurturing environment where they will feel safe and happy.

All Krayola Kiddies staff are trained in first aid and child protection

We are constantly providing extra training to keep all staff up to date and help stimulate new ideas for play.

We recognise that all children learn through play and we will guide your children through the “Stepping Stones” towards the “Early Learning Goals” as recommended by OFSTED preparing them for starting school.

Keyworkers

Krayola Kiddies operates a keyworker system, which means that a member of staff will be especially responsible for your child and will develop a close relationship with you. The keyworker will observe and monitor your child’s development whilst in the setting and will be responsible for recording in your child’s profile which will be available for you to look at whenever you wish to do so.

Parents should be confident that any matters discussed with staff will remain confidential, as is our policy.

Meals

We promote a healthy eating policy and encourage children to try different foods to ensure a varied diet. We provide a nutritional breakfast, light snacks and tea. Our Onsite cook will prepare meals, drinks are available at all times. Staff eat with the children to promote good social skills at meal times. The weekly menu will be displayed on the notice board see sample menu included in this pack. When you register your child you will be asked if they have any allergies to certain foods, if this is the case then we ask you to provide us with a photograph so that we can display it, along with the information in the kitchen for the cook to comply with.
